However, the devs at Riot have taken the fundamental aspects of Scrouge-moving across a map as players battle A.I. Players experienced with Riot’s previous PvE release, The Saltwater Scourge, will find many of the core elements of Path of Champions familiar. Read on to learn all about the new adventures players can expect as they fight their battles across Runeterra. As a result, I got to get a hands-on preview of this new story-based mode that takes players to the twin cities of Piltover and Zaun and even beyond. If you are invested in Path of Champions, there is also a separate event pass with more exclusive rewards. In conjunction with the release of its first animated series, Arcane, coming to Netflix, Riot Games is releasing the new PvE roguelite mode Path of Champions to its award-winning digital card game Legends of Runeterra. ![]() The mode is available right now and has no end date in sight. There are even some cards exclusive to this mode that are fun to tool around with. You are also able to earn new cards, skins, icons, emotes, and more by playing the mode. Overall, Legends of Runeterra Path of Champions is a very fun mode, and a good respite from the grind of ranked PvP. This is very important as the difficulty scales hard when nearing the end of a mission or the end of a character’s story. So, unless you’ve memorized every champ’s text, you have to look them up online. One of my few strikes against the mode is that when choosing a champion and support to add to your deck near the start of a level, you cannot view the cards. Sometimes, not adding a card at all is the better option. It is more important to focus on synergy than anything else. If you aren’t careful, your deck can end up with mismatched cards that bog it down. You are also, of course, able to add more cards to your deck throughout the level. When choosing which enemy to fight, make sure you read what perks they have and determine what your deck has the best chance against. Be careful though, as enemies can also have perks. This can make keeping your deck consistent even more valuable. So, if you get a card with a +1/+1 buff, and a copy with another +1/+1 buff, then every copy of that card in your deck now has +2/+2. Individual cards themselves also have perks that can be added to them via items. ![]() The feature helps make every map feel fresh and different, even when replaying them. Which is helpful because after finishing a map, your deck lineup will reset, and you will gain different cards for your deck on a new map. Leveling up gives your champion permanent abilities that can be used on every map. ![]() The more fights you win on a map, the more reputation you gain. You can also level up your champion by using reputation points gained after completing each level. You start each level off with a small, basic deck and can add more cards along the way. Some levels even have fully voiced motion comics bookending them. There are nine other champions that can be unlocked by playing the game. Some must be unlocked by playing more of the mode, but you start off with Jinx, Vi, Ekko, Miss Fortune, Yasuo, and Zed. You start off using Jinx, but after completing the first level, the field opens up with a plethora of champions to choose from. Similar to previous PvE modes in Legends of Runeterra, Path of Champions has you moving your character across a map battling AI opponents. In this article, we will cover the basics on everything you need to know before diving in. A few weeks ago Legends of Runeterradropped its latest PvE mode called Path of Champions.
